Manga in Until Dawn (Prologue)

(I know that I've finished with this but I realised something; I forgot to do a fucking prologue! So here it is, far too late in the game but here all the same. Warning: contains bad language from all of us in Until Dawn, Spoilers)

2nd February 2013

My friends and I were standing in the kitchen/lounge area in the Washington Lodge.

Hannah and Beth had invited Sam, Ashley, Emily, Mike, Jess and Matt up to their parents' lodge for the weekend. Their brother, Josh was allowed to invite me and Chris up. Mr Washington said it would be just us up there since he was working on a new film production this year.

This weekend also happened to be my birthday. I was already wearing one of my gifts, a silver locket. Josh had told me it was from the whole Washington family but Hannah pulled me to one side earlier and said that it was actually just from Josh; he was just too embarrassed to admit it.

My best friends since 3rd Grade, Josh and Chris had a drinking contest and passed out. I sighed; it was because Chris had, yet again, failed to tell Ash how he felt about her. Josh probably joined in because he was bored.

I went to shake Josh awake. He didn't wake up, mumbling something like '...I'll only tell her if you tell Ash, man'. He probably thought he was talking to Chris.

I was confused; was that the real reason Josh joined Chris with the drinking? He had a crush on someone too and wasn't going to tell the lucky girl he liked until Chris made a move on Ash? Since when? He rarely kept things from me.

Jess giggled softly as she left a note in Mike's chickenshit handwriting on the island table and walked back to us.

"Oh my god! I can't believe you actually did that!" Emily whispered.

"Guys, don't you think this is a little bit cruel?" Sam and I asked. We had known the Washingtons since we were little kids. Granted that I hung around with Josh while Sam used to play with Hannah and Beth, we both looked out for them all like they were our own brother and sisters.

"Come on, she deserves it" Jess rebuked.

"It's not her fault she has a huge crush on Mike!" Sam defended.

"Hannah's been making the moves on him, I'm just looking out for my girl Em" Jess remarked.

I couldn't help but think that Jess may be lying. Yes, Hannah was crushing hard on Mike but she was too chicken to do anything about it. Hannah was quiet and shy after all. And Jess was known to take things too far.

"Just because he's Class Prez doesn't mean he belongs to everyone...Mike is my man" Em stated.

"Hey. Em...I'm not anybody's man" Mike protested.

"Whatever you say, Darling~!" Emily sang.

Sam and I walked off to go and find Hannah so that we could warn her of what the others had planned. "Hannah!" we called.

It wasn't long until we found Hannah in the guest room. Mike and the others were already there. Matt held a selfie stick in hand. Her face had humiliation and aggravation written all over it. Shit. We were too late! She ran out before Sam and I could comfort her. 

I looked at the others, unimpressed with their behaviour. "You fucking assholes!" I insulted.

Sam glared at our friends. "You guys are jerks! You know that? Come on, Manga, let's find Hannah" she scolded as we ran down after Hannah.

We ran for the open door. "Hannah!" Sam and I yelled.

Beth ran out, zipping up her pink padded jacket. "What's going on? Where is my sister going?" she asked.

"It's fine...she just can't take a joke" Jess lied.

"Bullshit!" Sam commented.

I adjusted my glasses, which had become crooked from running. "These fucking pricks pranked her.." I remarked.

"It was just a prank, Han!" Em insisted.

Beth's expression turned angry. "What did you do?!" she demanded. Mike started to explain but Beth cut him off. "You jerks!" she yelled before darting off to find Hannah.

Ash suddenly looked incredibly guilty, remembering what it was like to crush on someone pretty hard. She was crushing on one of my best friends, Chris.

"Shit..." Emily muttered.

"Should we go after her?" Mike asked.

Sam and I glared at Mike. "Y'know, I think you're the last person she wants to see, Mike!" Sam snapped at him. 

"I'm so fucking disappointed in all of you! Hannah was nice enough to invite us all up here! How would you all fucking like it if someone humiliated the shit out of you?! Now if you excuse me, I have to fucking wake up Josh!" I ranted at my friends before going in to wake Josh and Chris up to tell them the bad news.

My friends started to come inside too. "Mangs, we're really sorry!" Matt shouted.

"We didn't mean to ruin your birthday!" Jess and Emily whined. Mike and Ashley also voiced their apologies.

"It's not me you have to apologise to, It's Hannah!" I pointed out as I shook Josh and Chris awake. "Josh! Chris! Wake up!" I cried.

Josh finally woke up. "Ow, my fucking head..." he muttered. He then looked at me, seeing the concern and horror in my eyes. He abruptly got up. "Manga? What's wrong?" he asked.

"The others played an awful prank on Hannah...Sam and I tried to warn her...she ran off and Beth went to look for her..." I told Josh.

Josh suddenly looked petrified. "What?" he asked again, gripping my arms like I was his lifeline.

"Both your sisters are in the woods. I don't know where Hannah could've gone...but she must feel so humiliated. That's got to be the worst feeling in the world.." I explained.

Chris soon woke up. "Wait, what happened, Manga?" he asked me. I explained again what had happened. That our friends played a terrible prank on Hannah, she ran off and Beth went after her.

As I thought, Josh broke down in tears and clung to me tightly. Chris and I were immediately by his side to comfort him like the best friends we were.

I wanted to cry too but continued to comfort Josh and Chris; Chris was just shocked that such a thing would happen.

We never saw Hannah and Beth again.
